this camera was bought for me as a christmas present even though i already picked it out. i was very impressed. after a couple of days i could find my way around the camera very easily. 3.1mp is enough for somebody looking for a nice camera for holidays and special occasions etc. the x4 optical zoom doesnt blur at all and you can combine this with the digital x3.5 zoom to make an overal zoom of x14 which only blurs a bit. i thought the video feature would be pretty naff but it has an amazing focus and doesnt blur at all which is a plus. also there are many different modes to shoot with including a night vision mode where it can produce perfectly good pictures in pitch black dark. finally the pictures displays incredibly well on the computer with the software given!;

I've had my DX6340 for a year now and couldn't be more happy with it. I bourght Kodak Travel Charger with camera bag and a 256mb memory card at the same time. As I've used the original battery as back up if the recharable battery dies at an awkward moment I can't comment on the lifespan of it, but it's still going and I have used it several times. The camera got it's first trial in Greece, which taught me from the start to use the viewfinder rather than the screen, which was difficult to see in bright sunshine. This also saves on the batteries!
I've found the build quality is good - I've had no problems with battery casing. My one critism of the camera is that you can't zoom whilst filming in movie mode - the zoom has to be set first. I've not made use of the digital zoom, but couldn't be happier with the optical zoom.
The software is easy to use, and although initially I couldn't burn direct from kodaks software to CD rom, after I updated to version 4 there was no problem. I see no need for the camera dock as it is so easy with the cable supplied. As for printing at home with a camera dock/printer or other printer, I am happy to upload and get it done professionally - no need to keep buying expensive paper and printer cartridges!
The free trial of Sonics "My DVD slide Show" has convinced me that I will be buying this type of software in the near future. My only complaint about it was that I couldn't include the movies I'd taken in the slide show. So that is a function I will bw looking for. I have seen that Magix produce such a program.
My father is looking at the 4MP version, which again seems very good, and whats more it costs less than I paid for this camera a year ago -which means that the price for this camera has also dropped considerably in that time!;

As a complete novice to digital photography i must say i was quite impressed by how simple it was to use my Kodak DX6340 digital camera. I decided on kodak because of their excellent reputation and quality products, and i wasn't disappointed.The quality of the pictures are excellent, and i am still using the original battery which i bought at the same time.My only small complaint is the battery compartment door seems a little flimsy.The despatch time by Amazon was also First Class.I would definately recommend both Kodak and Amazon based on this purchase.;
