Digimon the TV series has spawned a full-length theatrical film, in a similar vain to the Pokémon craze. The two phenomena are similar: kids collect monsters and go on adventures. While Pokémon has a sense of odyssey and a wisp of a moral, Digimon is flat-out rough-and-tumble adventure. Can an adult figure out the digi-details of the digi-world? Here's a digi-shot: the world is full of evolving monsters that live and fight in their own way. The digi-world and real world can intermix, and one of the portals is the Internet. Children sit at their laptops and fight with their digi-monsters in an abstract environment that looks like something from Tron but with none of the cool. The first 50 minutes is a flashback story that took place eight years earlier. So everyone has now grown up (as the time frame leaps over all the original Digimon TV shows), and Digimon and humans interact on Earth. A bad digi-virus is bent on revenge, and it will take more than a laptop to defend the planet. That said, if the end of the world ever looms, a golden digi-egg will be a good thing to have. Digimon are kind of like an evolution of Pokemon. It wasn't really a chhallenge to Poke mon but followed the same bbasic principles of being weird and wonderful fanttasy animals that evolve and are 'found' and 'owned' by thheir chilren/owners.
If your children are in the 6-8 age they'll love this movie. ;

This is actually two movies in one. A lot of action is packed into each; it takes the best parts of the TV series and assembles them into one of the best anime movies I've seen. The stories are engaging, as are the characters. You will never get bored of it, every Digimon fan should own it.;

Firstly before Istart my review i'd like to point out that Digimon is not similar to Pokemon and you should really do more research before making such a claim. Kids do not collect monsters in Digimon and they never try to go out adventuring in the same way as Pokemon, in Digimonthey are doing it to save the world. I'd also like to correct you on your Digi-short and explain it in a much more informed way: Digimon are creatures made from computer data that inhabit a world parrallel to our own, the Digital World. Special children are chosen (about twelve in total) to have their own Digimon so they can fight evil and save the world. In the film (the main "middle film") someone has tried to create a Digimon on their PC but it was infected by a virus and let lose on the internet. The children you see with their Digimon on the internet (their are four of them) are Digi-Destined, chosen children whom are some of few that get tgeir own Digimon. In the film they are "uploaded" to the internet from the "Digital World" so they could fight this evil creature eating the internet. The "abstract enviroment" is actually the artists impression of being "inside" the internet. All in all this film does entertain you, is humoures and has a good soundtrack throughout. I would recommend this to any Digimon or Anime fan, anyone against "mon's" should stay away.;
