Product Description ------------------- The Kenwood JE550 Centrifugal Juicer is an inexpensive way to get fresh fruit and vegetable juice in just a few seconds. Its compact size means it'll stand unobtrusively on the kitchen worktop and save valuable space when not in use. Operation is simple--cut your fruit or vegetables small enough to fit in the hopper on top and select slow speed (for soft food) or fast speed (for hard food). Use quality produce and in a minute or so, three oranges and two grapefruit will fill the half litre juice jug with delicious juice that's far superior to the long life or even bottled fresh variety. A specially designed lid keeps the juice foam from tipping into your glass but if you're partial to it, simply remove the lid. Cleaning takes a while, but the juice makes it worth the effort. A citrus press such as the Russell Hobbs Citrus Press is a more efficient way to process oranges and grapefruit, needing no fruit peeling, producing more juice, and requiring less cleaning. However, for those with a taste for vegetable juices as well as the sweet tang of citrus, the JE550 would be the perfect compromise. Just don't mix them together--Kenwood's manual warns about the explosive digestive effect of fruit and vegetable cocktails. --Mark Gilbert

I have owned this juicer for over a year now and would not recommend it, do your research and get one that gives you more juice and is less hassle. If you juice carrots and apples, you end up with wet pulp with the odd slice of carrot and apple in, you can squeeze loads more juice out of the pulp with you hands! You have to put the pulp through at least 3 times to get the pulp anything like properly processed and slightly dry; and this makes the juice really frothy and it gives you indigestion. It doesn't process kiwis, melons or papayas, they are too soft for it, you end up with a puree that seeps over the machine. The hole that you put the fruit and veg into is small and you have to do loads of chopping and preparation to get it in. The only plus is that it is quite easy to clean and it goes in the dishwasher, apart from the steel basket that has to be scrubbed by hand. My advice is to spend more money and get a better one, I will be. ;

After struggling to decide which juicer to buy - there are so many, I settled on this one because of the price. Its easy to use and clean. I'm a juicing convert. You can probably get ones that are more high tech, but this is just fine.;

I usually like Kenwood as brand but I regret buying this product. The juicer cannot handle the humble apple let alone a carrot. The rasping plate is not effective and it becomes clogged with apple so very easily, and frequently. It takes an enormous amount of apple to nake the smallest amount of juice and so much is wasted. I am very disappointed.;
